Visit Our Sunnyvale Cosmetic Dentist Office for Orthodontics Solutions

As your Sunnyvale cosmetic dentist, we have several types of orthodontics that can be used to straighten your teeth. If you have been waiting to straighten your smile due to your schedule or other concerns, now is an excellent time to begin the process. We have more than one option to do so and the best way to find out what your options are is to schedule a consultation so that we can examine you, take X-rays and see how your bite is coming together. Then, we can make detailed suggestions for how to straighten your teeth.

When coming in for a consultation, here are a few things you should know about modern orthodontics care:

You may not need an orthodontics treatment.

As a cosmetic dentist, we can often improve your smile without actually moving them. For example, if you have small gaps between your teeth or a few teeth that are crooked, we can use dental veneers to close the gaps or make them appear straight. While these types of cosmetic solutions do not actually change the position of teeth, they do change how teeth appear. The benefit is that these solutions can be used to change your appearance much faster than traditional braces or aligners. If your jaw is out of alignment or you have significant dental issues, you may still need these solutions.  However, you should consider cosmetic dentistry as well.

There are more options than there used to be.

Metal braces are highly effective and recommended for both children and adults. They are smaller than they used to be and, therefore, more discreet. However, if you are concerned about your appearance, we can provide you with a solution that is nearly invisible.  When you visit our cosmetic dentist office, we can discuss clear aligners and how they can straighten your teeth. This type of orthodontics is ideal if you want to move your teeth into position but do not want to worry about anyone noticing that you are doing so. Both solutions can straighten your teeth and align your jaw so it is really up to you which one will work best for you.

You will need to make some adjustments during your treatment.

What you eat and how you eat it may need to change while you are undergoing your orthodontic treatment. For example, if you are wearing braces, you will need to stay clear of anything that is overly crunchy, hard or sticky. If you are wearing clear aligners, they come out while you eat but that means that you cannot eat as frequently. Most people find that they have to limit how often they snack but that they have plenty of time to eat meals. The aligners are supposed to be in for around 22 hours a day; so keep that in mind when you plan for eating.
